Awnings in Rincon de la Victoria designed for living on your terrace
Rincon de la Victoria is, above all, a place to live: blocks of flats facing the sea, townhouses with patios and urbanisations climbing the hillside in search of views. That’s why the awnings in Rincon de la Victoria we install aren’t just for show: they’re there so you can eat outside at lunchtime, stop the living room overheating in the afternoon and use your terrace at any time of day.
Each part of town needs something different. In the town centre and La Cala del Moral there are lots of flats with balconies and ground-floor flats with terraces near the promenade, exposed to the salt air. In Añoreta, Los Rubios and Torre de Benagalbon you’ll find townhouses with roof terraces and generous terraces where a pergola in Rincon de la Victoria gives you more usable space. And inland in Benagalbon, the houses have porches and gardens.
We’re QUBRE, an awning company from the Axarquia based in Velez-Malaga. You’ll deal with the same technical team that measures and installs, using Sauleda and Dickson fabrics, Cherubini motors and powder-coated aluminium with stainless fixings. The visit and the written, fixed-price quote cost you nothing.

Rincon town centre. Flats and ground-floor homes along the promenade, with plenty of salt air. A cassette awning stores the fabric away when you’re not using it, so it lasts longer.
La Cala del Moral. The part of town right next to Malaga, with blocks of several storeys and balconies over the street. Here a drop arm awning or a roller blind over the railing usually does the job.
Torre de Benagalbon. Coastal homes with south-facing terraces and communities with shared areas. Community awnings work well here, with a single model for the whole facade.
Añoreta. A hillside urbanisation with townhouses and open views, where the wind blows in unhindered. A well-anchored wall-mounted pergola gives steady shade on the roof terrace.
Los Rubios. Stepped houses looking out to sea and very exposed terraces. To close off one side without losing the views, a zip screen with screen fabric.
Benagalbon. The inland village, with traditional houses, porches and gardens. Hotter in summer, with room for a retractable roof pergola.
Sea, hillside and terral: what shapes your awning
Between a ground-floor flat in La Cala and a townhouse at the top of Añoreta, the wind, the salt and the hours of sun all change. This is what we check before we suggest anything.
Sea breeze all year round
Buildings near the beach get humidity and salt every day. Ordinary screws get rust stains and any exposed mechanisms wear out before their time.
What we recommend: stainless fixings, powder-coated aluminium and a cassette awning that closes the fabric away inside its case.
Gusts on the hillside
The urbanisations climbing the hill are open to the levante (easterly) and poniente (westerly) winds, and on the upper floors the wind comes in harder than at street level.
What we recommend: a Cherubini motor with a wind sensor and fixings chosen to suit the type of wall.
Afternoon sun and the terral
Many terraces face south or west, and in summer the hot terral wind sends temperatures soaring. A living room with a big window turns into an oven if there’s no shade outside.
What we recommend: light-coloured acrylic fabric or screen fabric, and vertical awnings to block the low sun.

For a flat balcony
On buildings with several floors, the awning has to give shade without sticking out too far and must respect whatever the community decides about model and colour.

- Roller awningShade and a little privacy from the neighbours.→
- Fly screensSleep with the window open in summer.→
For a terrace by the sea
Salt and wind punish any exposed mechanism. The sensible thing is to store the fabric away when nobody’s using it and automate retracting it.
- Cassette awningFabric and arms stored in their case.→
- MotorisationA sensor that retracts the awning in gusts.→
- EnclosuresAn enclosed terrace you can use in winter too.→
For a townhouse in an urbanisation
Roof terraces and upper terraces get sun all day and the wind off the hillside. A fixed structure gives steady shade without having to retract any fabric.
- Wall-mounted pergolaFixed to the facade, with fewer posts.→
- Bioclimatic pergolaLouvres that control sun and rain.→
- Zip screenCloses off the side without hiding the views.→
For a porch or a pool
Away from the beach the heat is stronger, and there’s room for a large shaded area next to the garden or pool.
- Retractable roof pergolaA sliding canopy you fold away as you like.→
- Wooden pergolaA warm look for gardens.→
- Awning with support legsMore projection, resting on the ground.→
For a business in Rincon de la Victoria

Town hall, community and terraces in Rincon de la Victoria
Before we manufacture anything, we check which procedures might affect your installation. These are the cases we see most often in the town.
Rincon de la Victoria Town Hall
A retractable awning on your home is usually a simple procedure; a fixed pergola or an enclosure may need a declaración responsable (a sworn statement to the town hall) or a licence, depending on the local by-laws and the size. We check it case by case.
Urbanisations and apartment blocks
In the townhouses and blocks of Añoreta, Los Rubios or La Cala, the owners’ meeting may agree on a shared model and colour to keep the look consistent. We explain it in our guide to awnings in communities.
Business terraces
If your bar has a terrace on the street, on the promenade or in a shopping street, the awning must comply with your terrace licence. We’ll tell you what to check before you order it.
We help with the paperwork
When the installation needs any paperwork, we tell you which and prepare the documents. More details in do I need permission for an awning or a pergola?

Frequently asked questions about awnings in Rincon de la Victoria
How much does it cost to install an awning in Rincon de la Victoria?
Every awning is made to measure for your terrace, so the cost varies a lot from one home to the next. That’s why we don’t give catalogue prices: we’d rather come and see it and give you a written quote, with no obligation and a fixed price, so you know from the start what you’ll pay for your awnings in Rincon de la Victoria.
The biggest factors are the system (a drop arm awning for a balcony in La Cala del Moral has little in common with a wide cassette awning for a penthouse facing the promenade), the width and projection, the fabric, from Sauleda or Dickson, and whether you want a Cherubini motor with a remote control or sensors.
Details that can only be seen in person matter too: whether the wall is concrete or hollow brick, whether there’s a cornice to get round, how high up the terrace is and how we can get the materials up there. In the hillside urbanisations of Añoreta or Los Rubios we also check the wind, because the fixings depend on it.
The visit is free and you’ll often get the quote in under 24 hours. If your current awning just has worn-out fabric, compare it first with an awning repair or new fabric, which often solves the problem without touching the frame and for considerably less.
Which awning is best for a flat near the promenade in Rincon de la Victoria?
In the buildings near the beach in the town centre and La Cala del Moral, an awning has two enemies: the salty humidity, which attacks screws and mechanisms, and the levante or poniente gusts that arrive without warning. The choice has to take both into account, not just the colour of the fabric or the width of the balcony.
For larger terraces and balconies we nearly always recommend a cassette awning: when it’s retracted, the fabric and arms are stored in a closed aluminium case, safe from salt and dirt. On narrow balconies, a drop arm awning, with arms that rest on the railing, gives shade without encroaching on the street.
Whatever the model, on the seafront we fit powder-coated aluminium and stainless fixings. We also recommend motorisation with a wind sensor, which retracts the awning automatically as soon as it detects gusts – very handy if the flat is left empty for days or if you forget to wind it in before you go out.
If you live in a community, check first whether there’s an approved model or colour for the facade. At the visit we look at your balcony, which way it faces and the building’s rules, and suggest the option that fits. You can see all our other systems on our made-to-measure awnings page.
Can I put a pergola on the roof terrace of a townhouse in Añoreta or Los Rubios?
In many cases, yes, and it’s one of the best ways to make the most of those upper terraces that are impossible to use at midday in summer. A pergola turns the roof terrace into a space with steady shade for lunch, a drink at sunset or a good book, without the floor burning your feet. Well planned, it also protects your doors, windows and garden furniture from the direct midday sun.
The first thing is to check what your community allows. Many urbanisations in Rincon de la Victoria have shared rules on appearance, and a fixed structure visible from outside may need approval or at least have to match a set model and colour. Depending on the size, some paperwork with the town hall may also be needed. We help you check before you order anything.
As for the type, a wall-mounted pergola is anchored to the facade and needs fewer posts, which helps on smaller terraces. If you want to control the shade, a retractable roof pergola has a sliding canopy, and a bioclimatic pergola lets you angle its aluminium louvres to let air through or close them when it rains.
Being on a hillside, these terraces get more wind than a ground floor, so we calculate the fixings and structure with that in mind. At the visit we measure, check which way the roof terrace faces and give you a fixed, written quote for the solution that best suits your townhouse.
What permits does Rincon de la Victoria Town Hall require for an awning or a pergola?
It depends on what you want to install. A retractable awning on your home usually involves a simple procedure, whereas a fixed pergola, an enclosure or a structure of a certain size may need a declaración responsable (a sworn statement to the town hall) or a minor works licence from Rincon de la Victoria Town Hall. What counts is the current municipal by-law, which can change over time.
In apartment blocks and urbanisations there’s a second hurdle: the community of owners. The facade and visible elements are shared, and the owners’ meeting can set a model, a fabric colour or a way of installing. We explain it in detail in our guide to awnings and the Spanish Horizontal Property Act (Ley de Propiedad Horizontal).
If it’s a business with a terrace on the public street, like the bars on the promenade, the awning has to fit the terrace permit the premises has been granted. And for houses with land around Benagalbon, it’s worth checking the land classification before planning a fixed structure of any size.
You don’t have to sort it out on your own. At the visit we see what applies in your case and, when needed, prepare the documents. There’s more information in our article do I need permission to install an awning or a pergola?, written for the province of Malaga.
How do I protect a terrace from the wind in the hillside urbanisations of Rincon de la Victoria?
Homes climbing the hillside have magnificent views but less shelter: the levante and poniente arrive with no buildings to slow them down, and the higher the terrace, the stronger the gusts. In these cases the question isn’t just which awning to choose, but how to make it hold up and how to use the space when the wind blows.
The first step is automation. A Cherubini motor with a wind sensor retracts the awning as soon as it detects sudden movement, without you having to keep an eye on it. On top of that come fixings suited to the wall, because fixing to a concrete pillar isn’t the same as fixing to a brick wall. On the highest terraces we check the condition of the wall before drilling and choose the fixings accordingly.
To keep using the terrace when it’s windy, vertical screens with guides are what work. A zip screen holds the fabric at the sides so it doesn’t flap, and a windbreak awning can include clear windows so you don’t lose your sea views.
If you’re after a cover that doesn’t rely on retracting anything, an aluminium or bioclimatic pergola with a properly calculated structure offers a stability no fabric can match. When we come to measure, we see where the wind comes into your terrace and suggest the combination that makes sense, without oversizing it or making it more expensive than it needs to be.
Do you repair awnings in La Cala del Moral or Rincon even if another company installed them?
Yes. We look after awnings from any installer, including companies that no longer work in the area or don’t answer the phone. In the older buildings of La Cala del Moral and the town centre there are lots of awnings with a frame that’s still sound and just needs a service to keep going.
What we repair most is fabric that’s been scorched or split by the sun, arms that have lost their tension, roller tubes and brackets rusted by the salt air, and motors that don’t respond. First we check the whole thing over and tell you what’s wrong and whether it’s worth repairing; if it isn’t, we’ll tell you straight. Many of these faults can be fixed with one part or new fabric, for a lot less than a whole new awning.
For new fabric we make it to measure with Sauleda or Dickson, plain or striped. If your community has an approved colour, we find the shade that matches. And if you’d like to forget about the crank handle, we can take the opportunity to motorise your awning with a Cherubini motor.
To give you an idea before we come out, send us a few photos of the awning on WhatsApp. Then we see it in person and give you a fixed, written quote. New materials come with a 2-year warranty, depending on the manufacturer and product, and we also stand behind our installation.
Can I enclose the terrace of a flat in Rincon de la Victoria to use it in winter?
Yes, and it’s one of the best ways to gain space in a flat here, where the terrace is often the brightest part of the home but becomes unusable on windy or rainy days. An aluminium and glass enclosure lets you use it as an extension of the living room, a reading corner or a home office for much of the year. With good frames you also get, depending on the model, some protection from street noise.
We install terrace and porch enclosures with powder-coated aluminium profiles and glass, adapted to each opening. There are sliding systems whose panels stack up to open the terrace in summer and others designed for a more solid enclosure, depending on the model, the size and how exposed your facade is to the wind.
Before enclosing it, check two things: what your community allows, because an enclosure changes the look of the building, and whether the town hall requires any paperwork in your case. We check it for you and, when needed, handle the documents so you don’t have to go from one office to another.
It works really well combined with an outdoor awning for the summer, which stops the greenhouse effect behind the glass, and with made-to-measure fly screens on the windows. If you want to sort it all out at once, we look at everything on the same day and quote for it together, with a fixed price and no obligation.
How do I book a free measuring visit in Rincon de la Victoria?
You can book it using the form on this page, by phone or on WhatsApp on +34 694 57 17 33, Monday to Saturday from 8am to 8pm. We look after you from our base in Velez-Malaga and agree with you the day and time slot that suit you best to come round. If you already have rough measurements, add them to the form: they help us prepare the visit.
It helps if you tell us which part of town you’re in (Rincon town centre, La Cala del Moral, Torre de Benagalbon, Añoreta, Los Rubios or Benagalbon), what you want to install and, if you can, send us a couple of photos of the space you want to cover. That way we arrive with the right sample books and with a proposal already worked out for you.
At the visit we measure, check the wall or floor it will be anchored to, look at which way it faces and the wind, and show you Sauleda and Dickson fabrics. We explain the pros of each system without jargon and answer your questions about motorisation, your community or permits, with no rush and no obligation on your part. That way you choose the fabric colour seeing it in the real light on your terrace.
Then you get the written quote, with a fixed price and no obligation, often in under 24 hours. If you accept it, we make it to measure and our own team fits it. If you’d like to know more about us before you call, read how we work at QUBRE.
