Our company

An awning and pergola company in Malaga that measures, installs and answers for its work

We started out as an awning company in the Axarquia and have grown to cover the whole province: today we’re your awning and pergola company in Malaga and on the Granada coast. We’re based in Velez-Malaga, on Avenida Pablo Iglesias, and from here we work in Malaga city, on the Costa del Sol and on the Costa Tropical in Granada, as well as in Granada city and its metropolitan area.

We specialise in the outdoor spaces of homes and businesses: made-to-measure awnings, pergolas, terrace and porch enclosures and fly screens. When someone calls us, they speak to the same people who’ll come to measure and install. That’s why we can give you a fixed price and stick to it: we don’t rely on third parties who don’t know your terrace.

We’re awning installers in Malaga who know the area: we know where the levante (the strong easterly wind) hits hardest, which streets on the coast get the most salt air and how the sun changes from a west-facing terrace to an east-facing one. That’s how we choose the system, the fabric and the fixings. And because we’re an awning company in Velez-Malaga, we’re close by whenever you need us to come back.

No subcontractors

The team that measures is the team that installs. We know how every fixing was done.

Advice before sales

If a system isn’t right for you because of the wind or the way your terrace faces, we’ll tell you.

How we work

What matters to us on every installation

You notice a well-protected terrace every single day. These are the four principles our team of awning fitters works by.

Measure properly

We measure the actual space, check the facade and find where it can be anchored safely. No guesswork quotes.

Think about your climate

A penthouse in Torre del Mar is not the same as a villa inland in Granada. We choose the fabric, colour and system for your sun and your wind.

Find out more: See how the colour of the fabric affects the heat.

Install it to last

Powder-coated aluminium, stainless fixings and anchors suited to each facade. When we finish, we test it with you there.

Speak plainly

We explain what the guarantee covers, which permits may be needed and when it’s worth repairing rather than replacing.

  1. We listenYou tell us what you want to achieve: shade, shelter from the wind, using the terrace in winter or fixing what you already have.
  2. Free home visit and measuringWe come to your home or business with fabric and colour sample books, measure up and look at the facade, which way it faces and the wind.
  3. Fixed-price quoteIn writing and with no obligation, in under 24 hours. With the model, sizes, fabric, motor and installation.
  4. Made to measure and installedWe prepare your made-to-measure awning or pergola and our own technical team installs it.
  5. Handover and after-salesWe test it with you, show you how to use and look after it, and we’re still here for servicing or repairs.
  6. Permits when neededIf your community or the town hall asks for paperwork, we help you prepare it before we start.

Questions about our company

Who installs the awnings and pergolas? Do you subcontract the fitting?

No. At QUBRE, measuring, installation and after-sales are all done by our own technical team. It’s one of the most important decisions we’ve made as an awning and pergola company in Malaga, because how long an awning lasts depends to a large extent on how it’s installed.

When fitting is subcontracted, the person who measures isn’t the one who anchors it, and nobody takes full responsibility when something goes wrong. We know exactly which anchors we used on your wall, with which fixings, and how the fabric was tensioned. If something ever needs adjusting, the same people who fitted it come back.

Working with our own team is also what lets us give you a fixed-price quote and stick to it: there are no middlemen adding costs halfway through the job. And it gives us room to take care of the details you won’t see in a catalogue, such as the pitch of the fabric so water doesn’t pool, or the height of the cassette so it doesn’t catch on the roller shutter.

If you’d like to meet the team before deciding, you can drop in at our premises in Velez-Malaga or book a free measuring visit at your home. You’ll be looked after by someone from the same team that will do the work, and you can ask them anything you need to know about the installation, timescales and materials before you decide.

Where is QUBRE and what are your opening hours?

Our head office is at Avenida Pablo Iglesias, s/n, local 9C, 29700 Velez-Malaga (Malaga). We’re open Monday to Saturday, 8am to 8pm, at our premises, by phone on +34 694 57 17 33, on WhatsApp on the same number and by email at info@qubre.es. We’re closed on Sundays, but you can leave us a WhatsApp message and we’ll reply on Monday.

As most decisions are made on the terrace itself, we usually come to your home or business. The visit and measuring are free throughout our area: the Axarquia, including Velez-Malaga, Torre del Mar and Nerja; Malaga city and the Costa del Sol as far as Estepona; and the Costa Tropical, including Motril, Salobreña, Almuñécar and Granada.

If you’d rather come to our premises, let us know first by phone or WhatsApp, because the team is often out on visits and installations and we want someone to be free to help you properly, with the sample books to hand. That way you can feel the fabrics, see the frame colours and ask your questions without any rush.

On our contact page you’ll find the map, all the ways to get in touch and the form to request a quote in a minute. If you message us outside opening hours, we’ll reply as soon as we open, however you prefer.

Do you work for communities of owners, bars and shops?

Yes. As well as private customers, we work for communities of owners, bars, restaurants, small hotels and shops. Each type of customer needs different things, so we adapt the team, the timescales and the way we present the quote.

For communities of owners, the most important thing is that all the awnings on the facade match and that the owners’ meeting is clear about what’s going to be installed. We prepare a proposal with the model and the fabric and frame colours, and help with the paperwork when needed. We explain it on our awnings for communities of owners page and in our guide to the Spanish Horizontal Property Act.

In hospitality, the terrace is part of the business and every day it’s closed shows in the till. We look for solutions that let you open in the levante, in the afternoon sun or in winter: windbreaks with side guides, bioclimatic pergolas, awnings with support legs or awnings for bars and restaurants with hard-wearing fabrics.

For businesses, we also try to schedule the installation on the days and at the times that least affect trading. Mention it at the visit and we’ll plan it with you. If the business needs several phases, for example a summer terrace and a winter enclosure, we’ll suggest a phased plan with a clear quote for each stage.

Do you take care of permits and paperwork?

When they’re needed, yes. We work with you on the paperwork and permits required so your awning or pergola is installed with everything in order. Not every installation needs them: a domestic retractable awning usually involves simpler procedures than a large fixed pergola, and in many cases what’s needed is the agreement of the community of owners.

Every town hall in Malaga and Granada has its own rules, and in historic centres or protected areas they can be stricter about colours, materials or size. At the visit we tell you what usually applies in your case and what information we’ll need: photos of the facade, measurements, the model and sometimes a sketch.

If you’d like to read up beforehand, there are two guides written by our team: do I need permission to install an awning or a pergola? and awnings and pergolas in communities of owners.

What we never do is start an installation we know is going to cause problems with the community or the town hall. We’d rather wait a few days until everything is clear than fit something that later has to come down. That peace of mind is part of the service: you decide what you want, and we make sure it can be done without any trouble with the neighbours or the authorities.

What do you do if my awning has problems after it’s been installed?

You call or message us and we come and take a look. Materials come with a 2-year warranty, depending on the manufacturer and the product, and on top of that we stand behind the structure and the installation carried out by our team. If the fault is covered, we handle the warranty with the brand and carry out the repair.

Fortunately, many issues are simple adjustments that can be sorted in one visit: an arm that needs adjusting, a motor limit switch that needs reprogramming or fabric that has gone slack. Because we know the installation inside out, having done it ourselves, it’s usually fixed quickly without having to take anything apart.

Once the warranty has run out, we’re still close by. We carry out servicing, repairs and fabric replacement and motorisation throughout our area, and we also look after awnings and pergolas installed by others. To make your awning last longer, we recommend following our cleaning and maintenance guide and always retracting it when the wind blows hard.

Whenever you report a problem, have the approximate installation date to hand and, if you can, a photo of the fault. Sending it on WhatsApp really helps us bring the right part on the first visit. That way we avoid unnecessary trips and your awning is working again as soon as possible, which in the middle of summer is what matters most.

Why choose a local awning company rather than a big DIY store?

Buying an awning is easy; installing it properly on a particular facade, with the wind and sun in your street, is another matter. A local awning company like QUBRE gives you something that’s hard to get any other way: someone who comes to your home, measures up, advises you, installs it and comes back if needed.

We know the local climate. We know that in the Axarquia the levante comes in gusts, that near the sea salt air eats away at cheap screws and that on west-facing terraces horizontal shade just isn’t enough. That’s why, depending on the case, we recommend systems such as a cassette awning with a wind sensor, vertical awnings or bioclimatic pergolas, and we use powder-coated aluminium and stainless fixings.

After-sales matters too. With a local installer you have a phone number and a WhatsApp to message, and a team that can come round to service, adjust or replace the fabric whenever you need it.

And then there’s the price: we give you a fixed-price quote, in writing and with no obligation, with installation included. That way you can compare it in your own time, knowing exactly what’s included. If, once you’ve seen it, you’d rather think it over, we won’t pester you: the quote is yours with no obligation, and our WhatsApp is always open for any questions.
