Your awning company in Fuengirola, from the beach to Los Pacos
In Fuengirola, life happens on the terrace. That’s why, when people ask us for awnings in Fuengirola, we’re almost always talking about apartments with a balcony over the seafront promenade, penthouses with large terraces or bars that need shade to welcome customers from midday onwards. We set out from our base in Velez-Malaga, and you’re looked after by our own technical team, who measure, advise and install, with no middlemen.
It’s a compact, densely built-up municipality with lots of foreign residents, who live here all year round or for part of the year. The town centre and Los Boliches are full of flats and bars and restaurants facing the sea; Carvajal, on the border with Benalmadena, mixes beach and apartment blocks; Torreblanca climbs the hillside with views; Los Pacos is more residential; and in Mijas Costa, in the neighbouring municipality, there are plenty of villas with gardens. For those, just as for penthouses, we also design pergolas in Fuengirola and the surrounding area.
With the levante and poniente winds blowing in along the promenade, we work with materials made for the sea: powder-coated aluminium profiles and stainless screws, Sauleda or Dickson fabrics and Cherubini automation with sensors. The visit is free and you get a written quote with a fixed price and no obligation.

Town centre. Flats and apartments facing the sea, shops and bars. A motorised retractable awning is the most practical choice for terraces on the promenade.
Los Boliches. A beachside neighbourhood with lots of bars and restaurants and apartment blocks. Bar awnings fit in well, as do cassette awnings on residential terraces.
Torreblanca. Hillside urbanisations with sea views and unobstructed wind. We recommend a zip screen and awnings with a sensor.
Carvajal. Beach and apartment blocks on the border with Benalmadena. For the frontline, a cassette awning with stainless fixings.
Los Pacos. A residential area of flats and townhouses, set further back from the beach. Wall-mounted pergolas and fly screens are a good fit.
Mijas Costa. The neighbouring municipality, with villas and urbanisations with gardens. A good spot for bioclimatic pergolas and aluminium pergolas by the pool.
Levante, poniente and salt air on the promenade
In Fuengirola the sun shines almost all year, but the wind changes direction and the sea breeze shows no mercy. This is how we choose the awning for each terrace.
Wind from two directions
Here you feel both the levante (easterly) and the poniente (westerly). A terrace sheltered on one side can be completely exposed as soon as the wind swings round.
What we recommend: a Cherubini motor with a wind sensor and, on the most exposed side, windbreaks with side guides.
Southern sun over the promenade
Terraces facing the sea get the full force of the sun in the middle of the day, and penthouses build up heat in the floor and the facade.
What we recommend: light-coloured Sauleda or Dickson acrylic fabrics, a generous arm projection and a roller awning on the railings.
Humidity and salt air
In the town centre, Los Boliches and Carvajal, the sea breeze leaves salt on profiles, roller tubes and screws, which rust if they aren’t prepared for it.
What we recommend: powder-coated aluminium, stainless fixings and regular cleaning of the fabric, as we explain in how to look after an awning.

Communities, the town hall and terraces in Fuengirola
Before we manufacture anything, we check what applies to your case. These are the most common situations in Fuengirola and Mijas Costa.
Fuengirola Town Hall
Retractable awnings usually involve simple paperwork. Fixed pergolas and enclosures may need a minor works licence or a “declaración responsable” (a sworn statement to the town hall); it depends on the local by-laws and on each installation. In Mijas Costa, the procedure is handled by Mijas Town Hall.
Communities of owners
Balconies are part of the shared facade, so the owners’ meeting can decide the model and fabric colour. We explain how it’s approved in awnings in communities of owners.
Bars and restaurants on the promenade
If your bar’s terrace is on public land, the awning has to fit the town hall’s permit. On the frontline there may be extra conditions: we check them before suggesting a system.
We help you with the paperwork
If your installation needs a permit, we tell you which one and prepare the paperwork. More detail in do I need permission for an awning or a pergola?

Questions about awnings in Fuengirola
What’s included in a quote for awnings in Fuengirola?
It includes everything needed to leave the awning up and running: the frame, the made-to-measure fabric, the fixings, the motor and automation if you choose them, and installation by our own team. We give it to you in writing, with a fixed price and no obligation, and you often have it in under 24 hours after the visit. What you sign is what you pay.
Before that we come to your home in Fuengirola, because you can’t give a serious price without measuring. At the visit we look at the width and projection you need, which way it faces, the type of wall and whether the awning is going on a community balcony, a penthouse or a bar terrace. We also show you the Sauleda and Dickson fabric sample books so you can choose the colour and fabric.
What changes the price most is the system you choose: covering a balcony in Los Pacos with a drop arm awning takes far less material than shading a penthouse on the promenade with a wide retractable awning. After that, the fabric, the frame colour, the Cherubini motor and its sensors and how difficult access is in tall buildings all play a part.
The guarantee is also part of what you’re paying for: a 2-year warranty on materials, depending on the manufacturer and product, plus the guarantee on the structure and installation. And if you need an adjustment later on, our after-sales service is here for you.
Which awning copes with the levante and poniente on Fuengirola’s seafront promenade?
On Fuengirola’s seafront promenade the wind has one particular quirk: it can come from the east (levante) or the west (poniente), and a terrace that’s sheltered one day takes the gusts head-on the next. So here it isn’t enough to position the awning well; you have to assume that at some point it’ll need to retract in the wind, and prepare it for that.
The most effective step is to motorise it with a Cherubini motor and add a wind sensor. When it detects strong movement, it retracts the awning even if you’re on the beach or out. On the frontline we combine the motor with a cassette awning, which stores the fabric and arms in an aluminium case and protects them from the salt air.
If you want to keep sitting outside when it’s windy, you need to close off one or two sides. Windbreaks with side guides and zip screens hold the fabric along its whole length, so it doesn’t flap or work loose. The sensible thing is to fit them on the most exposed side, depending on which way your terrace faces.
The other half of safety is the wall. A large awning puts a lot of force on the facade, so we check the material it’s screwed into and choose fixings to suit it, always with stainless hardware. If the wall can’t take the projection you need, we suggest alternatives such as support legs.
Do you install awnings for bars and restaurants in Fuengirola and Los Boliches?
Yes. We install bar awnings in Fuengirola, from terraces on the seafront promenade to bars and restaurants in Los Boliches and the town centre. In a town with so much street life, the terrace weighs heavily on a business’s figures, and an awning that fails or doesn’t give enough shade shows up straight away in empty tables.
To cover lots of tables we suggest wide retractable awnings or a monobloc awning, which is more rigid in large sizes. When the facade can’t carry the full projection, the awning with support legs also rests on the ground and gains stability. And for windy days, side windbreaks let you keep serving outside.
In hospitality the fabric works many hours a day, so we choose hard-wearing, easy-to-clean Sauleda or Dickson fabrics. Depending on the fabric, it can be personalised with the name of your bar or restaurant. A motor with a push button makes opening in the morning and closing at night really easy, with no crank handles to break with use.
We try to schedule the installation when it will least affect service, because we know a day with the terrace closed costs money. If your terrace is on public land, the installation must comply with Fuengirola Town Hall’s permit; we go over it with you and handle the paperwork when it’s needed. More information in awnings for businesses and hospitality.
Do you do awning repairs and fabric replacement in Fuengirola?
Yes. Awning repairs in Fuengirola, from the town centre to Carvajal and in Mijas Costa too, are something we do both on awnings we’ve installed and on those fitted by other installers. If yours was put up by a company that’s no longer around or doesn’t answer, no problem: we check it over, explain what’s wrong and work out with you whether it’s worth repairing.
Replacing the fabric is one of the most common jobs. The southern sun fades the fabric, cracks it and eventually splits it at the seams. We make new fabric to fit your frame using Sauleda or Dickson cloth, in whatever colour you like or the one your community requires, and the awning looks completely different without changing the arms.
We also repair arms that have lost tension, rusty brackets, bent roller tubes, broken crank handles and motors that don’t respond. If your awning is manual and it’s hard to retract when the wind gets up, it’s a good time to motorise it with a Cherubini motor and sensor, so it retracts on its own.
You always know in advance what you’ll pay, because we give you a written quote with a fixed price; and if the frame isn’t worth saving, we’ll tell you. Send us photos on WhatsApp so we can point you in the right direction before we come. All the details are on awning repairs and new fabric.
How do you fit the same awning across a whole building in Fuengirola?
In Fuengirola’s apartment blocks the terraces often repeat floor after floor, and matching awnings tidy up the look of the facade and avoid arguments between neighbours about colours and models. It’s a decision for the community, and it’s worth getting right from the start so you don’t have to put things right later with awnings already up in different colours.
The first step is for the community to agree on the model, fabric colour and frame colour. We can prepare a proposal to present at the owners’ meeting, with Sauleda and Dickson samples and the system that best suits those terraces, whether drop arm, roller or retractable depending on the type of balcony. We explain it in awnings for communities of owners.
Once it’s approved, each owner can install their awning whenever they like, knowing it will be identical to the neighbour’s, because the fabric and frame references are fixed. You’ll find the legal side summarised in our guide to awnings and the Spanish Horizontal Property Act.
Work at height is carried out by our own team, with the safety equipment each facade requires. And if any home also needs fly screens or an enclosure, they can be included in the same quote to make the most of the visit. If you have questions before the meeting, we can answer them with the property administrator or the community president.
Which pergolas do you recommend for penthouses and villas in Fuengirola and Mijas Costa?
Pergolas in Fuengirola fit mainly into two kinds of space: penthouses and large terraces in the town centre and Torreblanca buildings, and villas and townhouses in Los Pacos and Mijas Costa with a garden or pool. Each calls for a different solution, and in both the coastal wind means the structure has to be thought through carefully.
On a penthouse, the bioclimatic pergola is the most complete option: the roof of aluminium louvres angles to give shade or let air through and closes when it rains. Because it’s rigid, it handles the wind better than fabric, and it can be completed with side screens and a motor, depending on the model.
At a house with a garden, the wall-mounted pergola extends the terrace right against the facade, while a freestanding aluminium pergola creates an outdoor dining area by the pool. If you like the warm look of wood but not the upkeep, wood-effect aluminium is a good alternative.
A permanently anchored pergola involves more paperwork than an awning, and in Mijas Costa it’s a matter for Mijas Town Hall, not Fuengirola’s. The community may also have its own rules. We go over everything at the free visit, measure the space, look at where the rainwater will drain and help you with the paperwork.
Can I order an awning in Fuengirola if I spend part of the year outside Spain?
Yes. In Fuengirola, with so many foreign residents, it’s common for owners to spend part of the year in another country. What matters is arranging the visit while you’re here, or having someone you trust let us in, and sorting out the rest remotely without you having to keep an eye on it. Because we work with our own team, you always know who’ll be coming into your home and who’ll be fitting your awning.
You can get a lot done from abroad: send us photos of the terrace on WhatsApp, which way it faces and some rough measurements, and we’ll advise you on the system. Then we take exact measurements at the visit and send you the written quote, with a fixed price, so you can look it over at your leisure.
For a home that stands empty for weeks at a time we recommend systems that look after themselves: a cassette awning that protects the fabric while it’s retracted, a Cherubini motor with a wind sensor so it isn’t left open in a storm, and fly screens so you can air the house when you get back without letting insects in.
If you spot a problem when you return, our after-sales service checks the awning and tells you in writing what happened and how it will be fixed. Materials have a 2-year warranty, with the scope set by each manufacturer for each product, and the structure and installation are covered by their own guarantee too. You can request the visit using the form before you arrive.
Do you fit made-to-measure fly screens in Fuengirola?
Yes. We make and fit fly screens in Fuengirola for windows, terrace doors and front doors, always made to measure for the opening. In a seaside town with hot summer nights, being able to sleep with the window open without mosquitoes makes a big difference to how well you rest. And in houses with gardens in Los Pacos or Mijas Costa, where there’s more greenery, it’s even more welcome.
There are three main systems. Roller screens retract into a box and are ideal for windows you open every day. Pleated screens take up very little space and suit terrace doors, because you can walk through them easily. Sliding screens work well on picture windows and large openings in apartments. They’re all explained on made-to-measure fly screens.
We use powder-coated aluminium profiles that stand up well to coastal humidity, in a colour to match your window frames, depending on the model. In communities where the facade has to be uniform, we take that into account too, so they all look the same from the street. Before manufacturing, we measure every opening separately, because in the same flat two windows that look identical can differ.
Fly screens are often requested together with an awning or a terrace enclosure: we measure everything in a single visit and you get one combined quote, in writing and at a fixed price. And if you live nearby, we also work in Benalmadena and Marbella.
